7 Steps in a Kitchen Remodel

So you’ve been thinking about remodeling! Whether it’s countertops, cabinets, or demoing the entire space - construction within your kitchen can be a big commitment! Many clients ask what the kitchen renovation process involves -  So let’s go over the 7 steps in a kitchen remodel.

1. First contact with our Completely Kitchens Staff

Before we begin any project, we obviously need to meet you first! That can happen by walking into our showroom, sending us an email, or filling out the contact form on our website! Within that first meeting, we will talk through your project goals and schedule a time for a free walkthrough of your kitchen.

2. Walkthrough and Measurement

Becky or Russ will schedule a time to meet with you in your home. This allows them to see your space and talk through your exact goals. They will use this time to also grab measurements of your kitchen cabinets, walls, and windows for the designs we will create later. Once you’ve talked through the entire scope of your project, this is where you can expect a rough estimate of cost. The number that Russ or Becky shares will allow you to decide if you want to move forward with your entire kitchen renovation project.

3. Design team will create kitchen design

This is where things change for countertop replacements vs an entire kitchen remodels. If you are only having your countertops replaced - check out this post here. For kitchen remodels, we ask for a $3,000 design fee upfront. This fee will apply directly to the purchase of your kitchen cabinets. But in case plans change along the way, it allows us to still pay our design team for their time.

Our design team will now sit down with your measurements, project goals, and materials to create a 3D rendering of your finished space.

4. Meeting with the design team to go over design and estimate

The next step is meeting with our design team to go over the 3D rendering of your new kitchen, finalizing changes, and going over the estimate. The estimate is a breakdown of all the materials and labor costs associated with your remodel project. Some of our clients do things like to hire their own plumber or demo their own kitchen cabinets. This is reflected within the estimate itself. The best part about our work at Completely Kitchens is the ability our clients have to customize their project.

5. Changes, deposit, and ordering

Typically clients have a few changes to make after the initial 3D rendering. But once those changes are made and you are in love with your new kitchen; things really get moving. From here we ask for a 50% deposit down so we can get cabinets, countertops, and everything else ordered. Your $3,000 design fee will be applied at this time.

6. Scheduling and Completion of your Kitchen

Once your kitchen products are ordered, we will have a much clearer picture of timing for your kitchen installation. This is where we work around your calendar, the delivery schedule, and coordinate with our subcontractors if necessary to make this a seamless process on your end. Many of our clients will schedule their kitchen construction while they are on vacation so they can come back to a brand new space while avoiding the hassle of no kitchen for a few days.

7. Final Walkthrough and Final Bill

After everything and the kitchen sink have been installed - Russ will do a final walkthrough with you to make sure there is nothing else that needs to be changed. The final bill will also get sent at this time. Sometimes things arise during construction that may change your final bill compared to the initial estimate, rest assured that we will always discuss any changes with you before completing any new work.
